Rotary Club of Parys
Welcome to the Rotary Club of Parys. We serve the community of Parys and its surrounding areas in the Free State province of South Africa.
What is the Rotary Club of Parys?
The Rotary Club of Parys is made up of local people who want to help the local community and have a lot of fun whilst doing it. We give time, raise funds and ensure that the funds go to wherever the need is greatest. We collaborate with other local non profit organisations and other Rotary clubs worldwide to increase the benefits to the community.
We are a very modern Rotary club. We do not have formal meetings. We are a very hands on “Doing” club. We are active users of social media including Facebook, Twitter and Whats App. You can contact our Secretary on email@example.com
Rotarians form a global network of business, professional and community leaders who volunteer their time and talents to serve their communities and the world . Strong fellowship among Rotarians and meaningful community and international service projects characterize Rotary worldwide. Rotary clubs are non-political and open to all cultures, races, and creeds.
As the Rotary movement is the largest charity on earth, we are able to network extensively to help the local community. We have access to District Grants and Global Grants from the Rotary Foundation each year.
The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.
The Rotary Foundation helps fund humanitarian activities, from local service projects to global initiatives. Rotary clubs can apply for grants from the Foundation to invest in projects and provide scholarships. The value of the fund has now reached US$1 billion.
District Grants are small, usually R5,000 to R10,000, which the club can use for a project of its own choice. We use it to buy blankets every year as the winters in Parys are cold.
Global grants support large international activities with sustainable, measurable outcomes in Rotary 6 areas of focus:
- Promoting peace
- Fighting disease
- Providing clean water
- Saving mothers and children
- Supporting education
- Growing local economies
The minimum budget for a global grant activity is $30,000. There are a range of conditions that must be adhered to including the need to partner with an overseas Rotary club.
